The Valley Justice Coalition in collaboration with the Institute for Reform and Solutions has launched a reentry drop-in/welcome center open to those recently released from jail or prison!
The Welcome Back Reentry Center is open two hours daily Monday through Friday, 10am-12noon, and will offer a friendly welcome and listening ear, coffee and doughnuts, information on resources having to do with housing, employment, etc..
The Welcome Back Center is located in the Dean House, 110 Old South High, at the intersection of South High and Water Streets, across from Community Mennonite Church. By arrangement with the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail, brochures are distributed to inmates prior to release, and volunteers will meet those released and walk with them the few blocks from the jail to the Reentry Center.
Volunteers are needed to help staff the center. If you can donate two hours of time once a week to help staff the center, please let us know. Occasional and intermittent volunteers are also needed for relief and fill-in staff. For additional information or to volunteer call Robert Flory at (540)-383-1538 or fill out our contact form.
