The Valley Justice Coalition has coordinated a number of surveys of in order to better understand local needs, prioritize our efforts, and facilitate grant funding.
Survey of Family Members of Incarcerated Individuals
In 2017, the Valley Justice Coalition surveyed over a hundred family members as they came to visit their loved ones at Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail. Out of this project emerged our campaign to end the keep fee at our local jail, and also informed a number of smaller efforts and discussions with jail staff.
Survey of Local Incarcerated Individuals After Release
In July 2018, the Valley Justice Coalition began surveying individuals as they are being released from the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail. We plan for this survey to continue indefinitely, and will be preparing our first preliminary report for sharing at the Community Criminal Justice Board meeting in October 2018.
